High-Throughput Genomics VP
Pete Clemens has been named senior vice president of commercial operations at Tucson-based High-Throughput Genomics. The company said Clemens will lead HTG's global sales and commercialization efforts.
Clemens came to HTG from Becton, Dickinson and Co., a worldwide manufacturer of health-care services and products, where he spent 10 years in positions of increasing responsibility.
Before coming to HTG, Clemens was vice president of sales and corporate accounts at BioGenex, where he helped reposition the company. He also held sales management positions at Dade Behring, Baxter Healthcare Corp. and American Hospital Supply Corp.
Lutz is interim head of Miracle Center
The Miracle Center has appointed Pat Lutz to the post of interim executive director following the retirement of Bettie Smith, center founder.
The Miracle Center is a transitional home for homeless women breaking free from drug and alcohol addiction. The center operates two thrift stores.
Lutz, who previously served on The Miracle Center's board, also serves as assistant chaplain at the Pima County jail.
Drs. Vargas, Teeple join Tucson center
The Center for Neurosciences has named neurologist and headache specialist Dr. Bert Vargas and epileptologist and neurologist Dr. David Teeple to its practice. The center, at 2450 E. River Road, now has 16 physicians.
Vargas completed his residency training in neurology at New York University in 2007, and completed a fellowship in headache medicine at the Mayo Clinic earlier this year.
A 1999 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Medicine, he served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force until 2004. He specializes in the treatment of all headache disorders and is the only dedicated headache specialist in Southern Arizona, according to the center.
Teeple served most recently at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix.
He graduated from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2003.
He completed his residency training in neurology at Barrow in 2007, and completed a fellowship in epilepsy in 2008.
Sherry Whetten joins architects
Sherry Whetten has joined ABA Architects as director of technology.
Certified by the National Council for Interior Design, Whetten earned a bachelor's degree in interior design at the Arts Center Design College.
In addition to her work with ABA Architects, Whetten teaches ArchiCAD design software- user clinics.
Gary Capwell joins interior design team
Sunset Interiors & Design Studio and Tubac Ranch hired Gary Capwell, an interior designer based at the Tubac Ranch location in Plaza de Anza.
Most recently, Capwell was an interior designer with California Design Center in Tucson, where he was a design team member on the firm's award-winning home in the 2007 Street of Dreams show. He came to Tucson from Denver, where he was a design consultant and interior designer for a new home builder and a furniture company.
Julia Grover named program director
Julia Grover of Central Hand Therapy PC has been named program director of Southern Arizona Community Occupational Therapy Associates. Grover will be responsible for developing new programs in the areas of pediatrics, movement disorder and neurological rehabilitation.
