Mesa firm awarded rocket-launcher job

Nammo Talley Inc. in Mesa has been awarded a $51.8 million contract to develop and build portable rocket launchers and ammunition for the U.S. Marine Corps.
The contract for the program Shoulder-launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon II (SMAW II) program extends to 2012 the development of 146 next-generation launchers and 915 rounds of ammunition. The company said it expects to later get a long-term contract.
