The population of Cochise County inched up last year, but two of its major cities lost residents.
Bisbee's population dropped by 45 residents from 2006 to 2007, and Sierra Vista's fell by 134 in that time period.
Benson had the highest rate of growth, and Douglas gained the most new residents last year, according to the Arizona Department of Commerce's Research Administration. Much of the growth in Douglas is due to the increased number of U.S. Border Patrol agents in the area, according to the Cochise College Center for Economic Research.
