The Americana Motor Hotel in Nogales, Ariz. has been sold for about $3.5 million to a group of investors who specialize in refurbishing older hotels.
Michael Clausen, manager of Americana Nogales LLC, said the company plans to invest about $1 million in renovating the more than 30-year-old hotel.
The hotel has 97 rooms, a ballroom, meeting rooms and a restaurant.
Clausen said he was familiar with the hotel after stopping in Nogales on trips to Mexico. He said he "always liked the place."
"I thought it was in need of some work to live up to its potential," he said. "It had been let go pretty badly, maintenance-wise."
