Pima County's career center, called One Stop, has won $945,000 in federal grant renewals to provide job training assistance to veterans.
The U.S. Department of Labor awarded 103 grants worth nearly $30 million to help 19,000 veterans nationwide find civilian careers, a news release says.
The grants are from the Department of Labor's Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program, which awarded Pima County $245,000, and the Veterans' Workforce Investment Program, which will bring another $700,000.
The $700,000 will be shared among work force organizations in Santa Cruz and Cochise counties, as well as One Stop, said Dorothee Harmon, a One Stop grant writer.
