Southwest Gas rate case before a judge

Southwest Gas Corp. is arguing its case for a rate increase this week before an Arizona Corporation Commission administrative law judge in Phoenix.
Last August, Southwest Gas filed with the Arizona Corporation Commission for a rate increase effective Oct. 1 that would add about $4 to the average monthly residential bill to cover rising costs.
Southwest Gas spokeswoman Libby Howell said the hearing is likely to go through the end of the week, and it will be at least a month before any decision about the rates is reached.
The administrative law judge must make a recommendation to the full corporation commission, which then sets rates.
Southwest Gas serves 958,000 customers in Arizona.
