Splendido taps Blazer as executive director
Splendido, an Oro Valley retirement community, has named Mark Blazer as its executive director.
Blazer has more than 27 years of experience in retirement-community management, finance and health care. He most recently was the vice president of operations for Retirement Living Services in Hartford, Conn., where he was responsible for the management of more than 20 retirement communities across the United States.
Heart Association's city unit names Cannon
Diana Cannon has been named executive director of the American Heart Association's Tucson office.
Cannon will be responsible for strategic development and managing local staff and the association's executive board in Tucson, and will oversee all corporate partnerships and fundraising, including the Tucson Heart Walk, Go Red For Women Luncheon and the Tucson Heart Ball.
Cannon, a resident of Tucson since 1977, was most recently sales and marketing director for Title Guaranty Agency and has held various retail and commercial banking positions. She also has served as tournament director of the Coldwell Banker Shootout youth soccer tournament for the last 10 years.
Transmission expert Cortez opens own shop
Jesse Cortez, a certified transmission mechanic with 37 years in the industry, has opened A-Accurate Transmissions and Auto Repair LLC at 2845 N. El Burrito Ave., east of Flowing Wells Road between Glenn Street and Miracle Mile.
The shop services all makes and models of cars and trucks, and offers general auto repair as well as transmission service.
Cortez, a resident of Tucson for 22 years, is certified by the Automotive Transmission Rebuilders Association.
Traweek is gen. mgr. at Lodge on the Desert
Jacque Traweek has been named general manager at Lodge on the Desert, according to property manager Coastal Hotel Group.
Traweek replaces Tucson hospitality veteran Maria Lane who, as hotel manager, will continue to oversee the housekeeping department and front desk.
Before joining Lodge on the Desert, Traweek was General Manager at Cave B Inn, a small, luxury boutique resort in Quincy, Wash.
Traweek grew up in Oracle and attended The University of Arizona. Her hospitality work experience was at the Sheraton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort (now the Hilton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort), and she subsequently was in management at hotels in Hawaii and the Virgin Islands.
Sandoval to coordinate at Lodge & Associates
Angela "Angie" Sandoval has been hired as business coordinator for Harry S. Lodge & Associates, a Tucson employee-benefits agency. Sandoval has five years of experience in human resources and more than 10 years in customer service.
Sandoval will work with group-benefits clients and assist with open enrollments, the company said. She will also be responsible for conducting the annual United Benefit Advisors Employer Health Plan Survey in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
UA law graduate Smith joins Snell & Wilmer
Traci M. Smith, a graduate of the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, has joined Snell & Wilmer's Tucson office, where her practice is concentrated in estate planning, elder law, estate and trust administration and asset protection. She also provides services in the related areas of employee-benefits litigation and tax matters.
Smith is a member of the assistance committee and is a peer counselor for the State Bar of Arizona, and she serves on the steering committee for the Arizona Women Lawyers' Association.
Financial consultant Schunk adds a title
Deenna Schunk, financial consultant for A.G. Edwards (a division of Wachovia Securities LLC) at 7630 N. Oracle Road, has added the title of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) after earning the designation from the College of Financial Planning.
Schunk has been with A.G. Edwards since August and previously was with Chase Bank/Securities.
