Sonoran man faces drug charges after traffic stop on Interstate 10

A 38-year-old Nogales, Sonora, man is facing numerous drug charges after a DPS officer discovered methamphetamine during a traffic stop, authorities said.
The K-9 officer stopped the 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck on Interstate 10 near the Pinal County line Thursday for a moving violation, according to a Department of Public Safety press release.
The officer noticed the driver, Simon Meza-Alapizco, behaving suspiciously and asked to search the vehicle, the press release stated.
During the search, the officer found 3 pounds of meth in a fire extinguisher.
The meth was worth about $60,000, the press release stated.
Meza-Alapizco is facing charges of possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug for sale and transportation of a dangerous drug for sale, the press release stated.
He was booked into the Pima County jail.
