A man was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Thursday afternoon east of Douglas, an official said.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting, which occurred at about 2 p.m. on Geronimo Trail at Milepost 4, were not available Thursday night, said Carol Capas, a spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff's Office. The man was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries that are considered to be non-life-threatening, she said.

Capas did not have any further information.
