East Side residents looking for a good steak have one fewer option.
Longtime Tucson steakhouse OK Corral is closed, though for how long remains unclear.
In September, Capital One Bank foreclosed on OK Corral Plaza, where the steakhouse is located. The property is scheduled to be sold at auction Dec. 26.
The plaza was originally scheduled to be auctioned in November, but the date was pushed back so the owners could see if they can cure the default or sell the property.
Raul Peralta, who owns OK Corral, 7710 E. Wrightstown Road, as well as OK Corral Plaza, says he has no plans to sell his property and he is working to repay the bank.
In fact, Peralta says the restaurant is currently undergoing a redecoration and will reopen in December.
"We are putting in new carpet," he says. "And new curtains."
It's not just the decor that will change, Peralta says. OK Corral's menu is getting a makeover, too.
"We will continue having steaks," Peralta says. "But many items will be less expensive."
Does that mean less meat?
"We will have a few more vegetarian items," he said. "Because meat is expensive.
The other business located in Ok Corral Plaza, Palo Verde Dental Lab, is moving to nearby Woodland Plaza, next to Thirsty's Bar and Grill.
John DiCamillo, owner of Palo Verde Dental, said he was sad to move after 30 years at the same location.
