For its Rock Fest this year, KLPX (96.1-FM) is rolling out the big guns. Antique guns, but still.
Bands of yore in store: Blue Öyster Cult, Jackyl and AC/DC tribute band TNT.
They'll be at the Pima County Fairgrounds on Saturday night to do what they do best: perform songs written decades ago.
If you're not yet old enough to collect Social Security, here's a brief refresher:
Blue Öyster Cult
• Style of rock: '70s-style.
• Greatest hits: "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," "Burnin' for You," "Godzilla."
• Key weapon: Cowbell. It would be hard to imagine Blue Öyster not making reference to the famous Will Ferrell skit on "Saturday Night Live." Here's hoping some audience members bring some cowbells for effect as well.
• It's true: You can buy a Blue Öyster Cult polo shirt from the band's Web site.
• Beers needed to fully enjoy set: Two.
Jackyl
• Style of rock: Heavy Southern.
• Greatest Hits: "I Stand Alone," "The Lumberjack."
• Key weapon: Chain saw. Lead singer Jesse James Dupree is known for bringing a chain saw onstage and performing a solo with it.
• It's true: In the early '90s, Jackyl performed a surprise concert in a Kmart parking lot.
• Beers needed to fully enjoy set: Three.
TNT
• Style of rock: AC/DC bangers.
Greatest hits: "Back In Black," "Highway to Hell," "Hells Bells."
Key weapon: The awesome ability to play other people's songs! Wheeeew!
• It's true: There's a lot more AC/DC tribute bands named TNT than you think.
Beers needed to fully enjoy set: One. This could be the best music of the night. Get there early!
