Wake Up With the Birds — Roy P. Drachman-Agua Caliente Regional Park, 12325 E. Roger Road. Desert meets water at this oasis park, providing a unique crossroads for migratory and resident birds, some of which are unique to southeastern Arizona. Binoculars are available or bring your own. Butterflies and More at Garden Canyon — Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way. Join Jeff Babson, owner of Sky Island Tours, for a trip to Garden Canyon in the Huachuca Mountains. Prickly Pear Harvest — Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, 2120 N. Kinney Road. Join in harvesting the red fruit of the prickly pear cactus, in making jelly and syrup and finding out about how this food is important to many desert animals and peoples. Other desert foods such as agave, cholla buds and mesquite will be menu items. Learn about the deep red color of the cochineal insect and its use as a dye. Food feast at the end of the class. Rainwater Harvesting Workshop — Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way. Practice assessing a landscape's water flow and the basic water-harvesting strategies.
