Shelter having cat, kitten adoptathon

Tucson, Arizona | Published: 12.14.2008
It's beginning to look a lot like Cat-mas.
The Hermitage Cat Shelter is holding its Santa Claws and the Kitties adopt-athon on Saturday.
A multitude of cats and kittens will be available for adoption from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the shelter, 5278 E. 21st St.
The shelter also is offering free photos taken with Santa for folks who donate cat or dog food to help feed animals in need. The child-friendly event includes refreshments and tours by Santa's elves.
Specials include $10 off adoptions on adult cats.
Regular adoption fees are $60 for kittens younger than 5 months old, $50 for cats 5 months and older, and $40 for cats with special needs.
People with disabilities and those age 60 and above may adopt a cat 2 years or older for half the usual adoption fee.
Each adoption fee includes spaying or neutering; treatment for parasites; tests for the feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus; vaccinations for upper respiratory complex, feline leukemia and rabies (if older than 4 months); microchipping; and a sturdy cardboard carrier if requested. Adoptions also will include a packet that contains medical records, microchip information, trial pet insurance and cat care information.
Call 571-7839 with any questions.
