Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair
— From "Hair"
Yep, that was an anthem that started with the musical "Hair" in 1968 and continued along with bell bottoms, peace symbols, rebellion and social change well into the '70s.
We started thinking about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius when we realized the rock musical "Hair" and the road show of "Jesus Christ Superstar" are coming soon to local stages.
For a real look back in time, we need you.
Dig up some photos —from then and now — and thoughts and submit them online for our Hair & Now contest and a Sunday ¡Vamos! story we're planning for Dec. 7.
Details are all online at go.azstarnet.com/hair (and check out the examples of '60s/'70s style we've posted there).
The submission phase runs through Nov. 21, then we'll have voting until Nov. 28.
"Winners" will receive two tickets to the opening nights of both musicals, courtesy of Arizona Theatre Company and Broadway in Tucson. Readers' favorites will earn bragging rights and gifts from our prize closet.
And even if you don't win, you could make it into our Hair & Now gallery, which we'll publish Dec. 7.
It'll be far out, groovy fun.
