Educational Theatre Co.'s 'The Deaf Duckling'
What it is: "The Deaf Duckling."
Whom it's for: Especially for families with deaf members. Not for children under age 5. Also, strollers are not permitted in the theater.
When it is: 7 p.m. Friday and 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Where it is: The Peter Marroney Theatre on the University of Arizona campus near the southeast corner of North Park Avenue and East Speedway.
Who's doing it: The UA School of Theatre Arts' Educational Theatre Company.

The particulars: Based on the traditional "Ugly Duckling" story, "The Deaf Duckling" is about Sam, a little duckling who was born deaf and is trying to find her place in the world.
It is from Mr. Swan that she learns that she isn't alone and that there is a deaf culture with its own language, American Sign Language.
The production uses a combination of spoken English and ASL to tell Sam's story.
Educational Theatre Company productions are designed to give UA students experience in producing plays and educational programs. The productions are first performed on campus and then at area schools.
TSO series for kids opens with 'Beethoven's Mouse'
What it is: Just for Kids concert: "Beethoven's Mouse."
Whom it's for: Especially for kids and their families.
When it is: 10 and 11 a.m. Saturday.
Where it is: Tucson Symphony Center, 2175 N. Sixth Ave., one block south of Grant Road.
Who's doing it: The Tucson Symphony Orchestra's Piano Trio.

The particulars: This is the first of six concerts for kids planned by the Tucson Symphony. All use a variety of techniques, including storytelling, humor and audience participation, to introduce kids to classical music and orchestral instruments.
"Beethoven's Mouse," by Michael Fan, tells the tale of how Moritz Mouse — grandfather to Morris, the mouse who lives backstage at the Tucson Music Hall and loves to listen to TSO rehearsals — became friends of the great German composer.
Other Just for Kids concerts are slated for November, December, January, March and April..
