Before she was even 10, Taylor Davies swiped Vogue and Harper's Bazaar from the magazine stack on her mother's nightstand.
The striking clothes and models entranced her. They still do. In fact, the newly minted University of Arizona grad hopes to write for a fashion mag one day.
The 22-year-old, who hails from Seattle, took a recent break from her journalism and French studies to shop with us at two of her favorite haunts, Zoë Boutique and Sigi's Boutique.
Davies is the one her friends hit up for style tips. Her closet gets frequently raided. So, what's in that closet? Lots of brightly colored dresses, flats and plenty of bangles.
"I have a bajillion little dresses," she says.
Though she gravitates toward coral, yellow and green, a recent semester studying in France gave her a healthy appreciation for black and simple styles.
"My style is definitely kind of a mix," she says. "I mix trendy with preppy and a little classic."
Chalk it up to the years spent in a conservative, private Catholic school.
Though she appreciates a good trend as much as the next fashion-savvy gal, Davies mostly pays attention to fit and color.
As for the style advice she passes on to others: "Be true to your tastes and don't obsess over trends because wearing the things you love gives you confidence, and nothing looks better than that. And when in doubt, wear black. And Chanel."
