Have a little fun with your funds and check out these pet-friendly finds:
● Sarut's painted puppy metal bookends are sturdy enough to hold a shelf's worth of reading material or CDs. Available in a variety of breeds and colors. $25. Find them at www. thesarutgroup.com.
● Drink a little wine for a good cause. Dog House Winery in Santa Rosa, Calif., produces award-winning vino that also gives back. Wine maker Fritz Meier supports Guide Dogs for the Blind, a nonprofit group aimed at improving life for the visually impaired. The wines have even earned accolades from Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast. The screw-top bottles are user-friendly, and we love the whimsical labels and Web site. All varietals retail for about $10. Go to www.doghousewine.com to find a retail location near you.
● Cat's Pee on a Gooseberry Bush is a wonderfully named sauvignon blanc that's worth buying for the name alone. This wine comes from vineyards along New Zealand's eastern coastline and is quite refreshing. Sales in the home country benefit the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, so that's enough reason for us to pick up a bottle or two. We found CPGB at Cost Plus World Market, or go to www.cooperscreek.co.nz for a list of U.S. distributors.
