$12,500 in grants offered to help dogs

Tucson's Charter Funding is offering $12,500 in grant money to Tucson-area nonprofits that help dogs through its charitable fund held at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.
The Charter Funding 2006 Community Grant Round will support agencies that:
● Rescue and foster dogs until the appropriate home is found.
● Provide spay and neuter services, vaccinations, medical exams and/or training at a reasonable price for low-income individuals.
● Use innovative approaches to educate citizens about dogs and their needs and/or find homes for unwanted animals.
Applicants must be Tucson-area 501(c)(3) organizations in good standing or grass-roots organizations conducting charitable works. The maximum request is $3,000. Applications must be received by the Community Foundation by 5 p.m. Dec. 15.

Two spay/neuter clinics this month
The Foundation for Animals in Risk and Animal Birth Control will hold two low-cost spay/neuter days this month, to assist low-income households with unaltered pets.
The first will be Oct. 14 at ABC's West Side location at 4 W. Grant Road; the second, Oct. 16 at 1114 S. Craycroft Road. The cost to spay or neuter a cat or dog is $5 regardless of the animal's size. All animals must pass a free health examination.
