There are two versions of Windows 98.
Original Windows 98 Release
Microsoft has released two updates related to Year 2000 fixes (as of
August 30th) for the originally released version of Windows 98. To get
these, select the "Windows Update" icon in your Start menu or go to
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/.
Windows 98 Second Edition
If you have Windows 98 Second Edition (released June 10th, 1999), then you
already have the currently available Year 2000 fixes (as of August 30th).
Recommendation
In both cases, you may want to run the Windows Update feature (from the
Start menu or at
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) as the new year approaches. This
will make sure you have the latest Year 2000 fixes (if any are released in
the future).
