The Windows 95 Y2K Update

There were actually several different releases of Windows 95. Fortunately, Microsoft has released an update file that will work on all the different versions.

The download page also has important information and a link to download detailed installation instructions. You will probably want to read both of those before running the update.

Note: The update is provided by Microsoft, not StarNet. StarNet support cannot assist you with installing the update.


Determining the Version

If you want to view the Microsoft compliance summary for Windows 95, you need to know what version you are using.

To find out what version you are using, follow the steps below:

1. Double click on the My Computer icon on the desktop.

2. Double click on the Control Panels folder.

3. Double click on the System control panel.

4. In the General tab is a section headed System. Compare what is listed for version number against the table below.
