Windows Setup
Internet Connection Wizard


Any Windows computer with Internet Explorer 5 comes with a setup program (which Windows calls a "wizard") that will configure the program to log in to StarNet.

Below are instructions for setting up the computer to dial in to StarNet.


1. On your desktop should be an icon labeled "Connect to the Internet". Double click on it. The Internet Connection Wizard should come up in a window like the one below.

Note: If you don't have such an icon, you can try double clicking on the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop. If neither work, you will need to configure Windows by hand.

2. Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually.." and click on Next. You should see a window like the one below.

3. Select "I connect through a phone line and modem" and click on Next. You should see a window like the one below.

4. If blank, enter 520 for the area code. For the telephone number, enter in 918-4700.

5. Click on the Advanced button. You should see a window like the one below.

6. Click on the IP Address tab. You should see a window like the one below.

7. Under "DNS server address", select "Always use the following" and enter in the items below:

"Primary DNS server" - type in 169.197.1.3
"Alternate DNS server" - type in 169.197.1.4


8. Click on OK.

9. Click on Next. You should see a window like the one below.

Login Information


10. In this window you need to enter the following:

User name:
must be a "P" followed by your username in all lower case.

Note: Your username is the three to eight character name you selected when you started the account. For example, the user "support" would enter Psupport for the username.

Password

is the eight character string of letters and numbers given to you when you set up the account. The letters are in upper and lower case. They must be entered in the same case as they were given to you or it will not work.


11. Click on Next. You should see a window like the one below.

12. For "Connection name", delete what is in there and enter StarNet.

13. Click on Next.

14. The next window asks if you want to configure the computer for e-mail.

If you select "Yes", then it will walk you through the configuration wizard for Outlook Express. If this is what you want, then you just click Next and go to the Outlook Express setup (and skip down to step 4).

If you select "No", jusk click on Next and then click on Finish. At this point, you should be all set to dial in to StarNet.
