Help with Real Player 8

Fast connection, but slow processor? How about a slow connection and a great video card? Real Player 8 sets its bandwidth to T1/LAN. Unfortunately, not all of us have that speed. Here's a quick guide to help you set the right connection for you.

Real Player 8 -- How To Get It
Real Player 8 Basic is a free player that lets you watch streaming video and audio like listening to music or watching a movie trailer on your computer. Do you have the most current Real Player? Click and download Real Player 8. If you would like to get the RealPlayer 8 Plus ($29.70 US) click here for information.

But it looks terrible! How can I make it work better?
In your Real Player 8 menu, go to the View menu and choose Preferences. Click on the Connection tab across the top. You should see a screen like this one:

Connection Preferences

For Normal Bandwidth and Maximum Bandwidth, go ahead and change both of those values to the next lower one. The real purpose here is to play with these settings. We won't know right away which one is best for your audio and video performance. Don't be afraid to change them around to something else.

56k Modem

Click OK at the bottom, and reboot Real Player 8 (in other words, close it and launch it again.) Keep doing this until you find streaming to your liking.
