Setting Up ConfigPPP

1. Go to the Apple icon in the upper left corner and go down to Control Panels. In the list of control panels, select ConfigPPP. A window like the one below should appear.

2. For Port Name make sure you have it set for the port the modem is actually using.

3. Click on Config. A window like the one below should appear.

4. In there should be the following settings:

PPP Server Name

should be StarNet (it can actually be anything and case doesn't matter, but StarNet makes sense).

Port Speed

for 28.8/33.6 modems, set it for 57600. For 14.4 modems, set it for 38400.

Flow Control

should be set for "CTS only"

Phone Num

should be 918-4700 (the dash is optional)

Modem Init

varies depending on the modem you have. The site http://www.tidbits.com/iskm/modems.html is a good page for finding modem inits for specific modems

5. Click on Authentication. A window like the one below pops up.

6. For Username put in a capital "P" and then your username in all lower case and without the "@azstarnet.com". For example, the account "support" would put in Psupport.

7. For Password, put in your password--the eight character string of letters and numbers given to you when you set up the account. The letters are in upper and lower case. They must be entered in the same case as they were given to you or it will not work.

8. Click on Ok.

9. Click on Done.

10. Close the ConfigPPP window. And then you should be set.
