1. From the main Windows' screen, double click on the My Computer icon.
2. Double click on the C: drive.
3. Go to File--New--Folder. A new folder will appear with the title "New Folder". Replace New Folder with tmp.
4. Close the C: window.
5. Come back to this page, hold down the Shift key on the keyboard, and click on this link.
6. A window titled Save As appears. Click on Save.
7. Once the file has finished downloading, go to Start--Find--Files or Folders
8. In the Named box, type in ws_ftp.zip and click Find Now.
9. In the bottom window, the ws_ftp.zip file should appear. Double click on it.
10. The WinZip window should come up. Go to Actions--Select All.
11. Click on Extract.
12. A window pops up asking to what directory you want to extract the files. In the Extract To box in the upper left hand side, replace whatever directory is in there with C:\tmp. Then click on Extract.
13. The files should be extracted to that directory and you should end up back at the WinZip window. Close WinZip.
14. Close all the windows until you get back to the first window under My Computer. Double click on the C: icon.
15. Double click on the Tmp folder.
16. Double click on the file "install.exe" or "install".
17. The WS_FTP lisense agreement pops up. Basically it says that this version is available for no charge for private and government usage. Click on Accept
18. Another window comes up asking to what directory you want to install the program. The default is WS_FTP, which will do well enough. Click on Ok.
19. Then the installation program asks what default directory to use for file transfers. The program suggests the same directory as the program, which again will do well enough. Click on Ok.
20. The next window asks which version of WS_FTP to install. Select the 32-bit version and click on Ok.
21. Then it asks in which group do you want to place the icons. The default is WS_FTP. There's no point in cluttering up the Programs menu with program groups, so click on the down arrow on the right and select Netscape from the list that drops down. Click on Ok.
22. A window then comes up saying that the installation was successful. Click on Ok.
23. Close My Computer and go to Start--Programs--Netscape. In that list you should have the WS_FTP icon. Now you're all set.
