Uploading Pictures for Ebay

If you want to include a picture of the item for your Ebay auction, you need to upload it to a web page and then give a URL (an exact web address) where Ebay can find and copy it.

The instructions below walk you through setting up your web space and uploading the files.

1. If this is your first time through this and don't have a homepage on StarNet, then you need click here and follow these instructions.

2. The exact instructions for getting the images online depend on what operating system and what programs you are using. Click on the link appropriate for what you are using:

3. Once your images are uploaded, you can tell Ebay where to find them. The URL you would give them would be

http://www.azstarnet.com/~username/filename

(where username is your username and filename is the name of the file you uploaded).

Note: The web server is running UNIX and UNIX is case sensitive. This means that the file "Image.gif" a completely different file than "image.gif". You need to give Ebay the filename in the same case as the file that you uploaded.

Note: Do not use spaces in the filenames. Spaces in filenames will prevent you from properly accessing the page/images.

Note: Your web space is world readable, so if you are unsure of the filename, you can go to http://www.azstarnet.com/~username
(where username is your username). If you have not uploaded a file called "index.html" or "index.htm", then you will see a listing of all the files that you've uploaded.
