The first step involves checking to make sure that your phone line can support a DSL circuit. And there is no charge for that service. You can do that one of two ways:
US West will then test your phone lines to see if they qualify. If you call in, they can check their database -- usually during the call. If you fill out the online form, then you should be e-mailed the result.
When you order you will probably be asked what hardware you want. If you aren't using Windows 95/98/NT or what to hook up multiple computer to DSL, then you will want to order the Cisco 675. For more information on the different type of hardware available, you will want to check out "New hardware options available to new DSL sign-ups" at the top of this FAQ.
If your line qualifies, then a tentative installation date will be set. Then all you need to do is sit back and wait for your DSL line to be activated. When the installation order is placed, the DSL equipment you need will be shipped to you (or they will be installed by a US West technician on the install date, if you decide to go with the install option when you order).
Once your DSL is ready, give StarNet DSL a call at 618-xDSL (618-9375). At that point we can setup billing, give you your StarNet usernames and passwords, and activate your Internet access on our end.
In the event there is a snag somewhere in the US West portion of the process we handle the troubleshooting for you. Just give us a call at the StarNet DSL number to let us know the problem you are having. We are your advocate and we use the full power the largest and most aggressive ISP in Southern Arizona to make sure any problems are resolved as quickly as possible.
