Burglar alarms and other similar security devices typically use the phone line to call the security company when it senses a problem.
When a phone line is switched to DSL, the device may no longer be able to make that call.
To fix the situation, some special wiring may need to be done.
Qwest says they are working on documentation to place on their site, http://www.megaspeed.com, to allow people to do this wiring on their own.
Another option is to have a Qwest technician do the work. For an extra fee, Qwest will have a technician trained to do the re-wiring connect the alarm so that it can dial out.
Note: Qwest also recommends another option of getting the DSL on a separate phone line. However, you should be aware that you would be paying for two phone lines a month--one just for the burglar alarm.
