What the installation costs cover

Previous Contents Next

The $69 installation charge covers the work Qwest does to convert your line to use DSL. That part takes place entirely at the Qwest Central Office that serves you. No one needs to come to your home.

At this time there are a couple different hardware options available (each with a different fee):

  1. Intel 2100 internal PCI card - $99
  2. Cisco 675 external "modem" and a 3Com ethernet network card - $295
For the details on the features and limitations on each, you will want to check out the "Hardware options available" section of this FAQ.

At this time you cannot purchase a third party DSL modem and must get the Cisco modem from Qwest.

There is an optional $145 fee if you want a Qwest technician to come to your house and install the hardware.
