Note: While installing the 3Com ethernet card, it may prompt you to enter the Windows NT CD. You will need to provide them if everything is going to work.
1. The first step is to install the 3Com networking card that came from US West. (Assuming you didn't have Qwest do the installation for you.) Instructions for installing the card can be found the documentation which came with the card.
2. Once the card is installed, the drivers need to be installed so your computer can see it. Once the computer is back together, turn it on.
3. Windows NT may detect the network card automatically.
4. If Windows doesn't automatically want to install drviers for the card, you can follow the instructions found in the 3Com manual. Once that's done, shut down the computer.
5. Double click on the My Computer icon on the desktop.
6. Double click on Control Panels.
7. Double click on the Network Control panel
8. Click on the Protocols tab. You should see a window like the one below.
9. Highlight "TCP/IP Protocol" and click on Properties. You should see a window like the one below.
10. Make sure it's set for "Obtain an IP address automatically".
11. Click on Advanced. You should see a window like the one below.
12. Make sure there's nothing under Gateways. If there is, click on them one at a time and click on Remove.
13. Click on Ok.
14. Click on Close.
15. You may be prompted to insert the NT CD, if it does then insert it.
16. Windows should prompt you to restart. Go ahead and restart.
