Alternately you can download the latest Service Pack from Microsoft at http://support.microsoft.com/support/ntserver/content/servicepacks/
Note: Be sure to write down the MAC address that is on the sticker on the Cisco 605.
Note: Do not install the PPP driver that came with the Cisco 605. If for some reason it has been installed, you need to uninstall it using the directions on the Uninstalling PPP for Windows NT page.
Note: While installing the Cisco 605 drivers, Windows may prompt you to enter the Windows NT CD. You will need to provide it if everything is going to work.
1. You need to install the card into a PCI slot on the computer. Follow the steps in Chapter 2 of the manual that came with the Cisco 605.
2. You need to log in to the NT machine with an account that has Administrator rights.
3. Double click on My Computer.
4. Double click on Control Panels.
5. Double click on Network.
6. Click on the Adapters tab.
7. Click on Add. You should see a window like the one below.
8. Click on Have Disk.
9. Insert the CD-ROM that came with the 605.
10. In the box at the bottom type in (CD_Drive_Letter):\rfc1483\winnt, where (CD_Drive_Letter) is the letter of your CD-ROM drive (i.e. "D", "F", "H", etc.).
11. Click on OK.
Note: If Windows complains that it can't find any driver files in that location, that means that you don't have the 605's CD in the drive, have mis-typed the path, or have used the wrong drive letter for the CD drive.
12. A new window appears. In there select "Cisco 605 for 1483 Bridging". (It will probably be the only option in the list.)
13. Click on OK. Windows should start copying files from the CD to the hard drive.
14. After it's done copying, another window will pop up asking for the MAC address for the card. Enter in the MAC address that was on the label on the 605.
15. Click on OK. Windows then updates the network settings to include the Cisco 605.
16. The TCP/IP properties window should appear. If it doesn't, click on the Protocols tab and then click on the Properties button.
17. Under the IP Address tab, make sure it is set for "Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server".
18. Click on the DNS tab. In there are the following settings:
Domain
19. Under DNS Service Search order, if there is anything in the box already highlight it and click on Remove. Repeat until the box is empty.
20. Under that section, click on Add.
21. In the box that comes up, type in the following 169.197.1.3 (the periods will already be in there).
22. After entering the above, click on Add.
23. Back at the DNS tab, click on Add again.
24. This time enter 169.197.1.4 and click on Add.
25. Click on OK.
26. When windows asks if you want to restart, click on Yes.
27. When the computer reboots, the Cisco 605 should be ready to go.
