Liquid Gold

Once I saw the stars shine bright
And the heavens glowed
with their celestial light
O! How I loved
To see them dance and sing
While they did, joy and happiness bring
The brighter they glittered, high and gay
More and more did I believe
In their way
I wanted so much to be up there
Yet hardly could I dream or dare
My arms reached up to heaven's glory
And it seemed I heard the music Of their story
The symphony wrapped around me near
As there I saw the stars hold me dear
It was a brief moment of perfect bliss
Before long I forgot to miss
The warm earth, and the waters cool
But O! Was I a silly fool
For just as I rose and hit the top
I began falling and couldn't stop
So now I know the reason why
We were not meant to own the sky.
