The Sacred Mountain

The warm sun peeks over the
western horizon
hitting the tall cactus
The Sacred Mountain stands tall.
The coyote runs through the trees,
between the jumping cactus
leaving tracks on the warm
desert floor.
The Sacred Mountain stands tall.
The herd of cattle runs past
the pond, hooves pounding
the earth, cowboys on horses gallop by,
The Sacred Mountain stands tall.
The summer clouds come, covering
the sky, darkness surrounds
the earth, the rain pours, cooling the land.
The Sacred Mountain stands tall.
The seasons have come and they have gone
rain, hail, heat and snow
falling, covering every inch of the desert.
The Sacred Mountain stands tall.
