 Manuel Cayuela Bachiller |
Javier Cayuela Garcia was born in 1927. Like many guitar makers, he
began as a cabinet maker. In 1949, he began the process that would convert him into a
guitar maker, building a guitar because he loved the instrument, but in post war Spain,
did not have the money to buy one. The first guitar, he made using the criteria of a
cabinet maker wasn't what he hoped it would be, Over the years, he formed a friendship
with Miguel Rodriguez, one of the centuries great makers who lived in Cordoba. Rodriguez
would given advice from time to time, from which he benefited enormously. In 1952, he
establish his own shop, which since has grown to become a factory. Javier has two son's
who work with him: Juan Luis Cayuela (born 1951) and Manuel Cayuela (1955). They
manufacture a range of guitars from affordable student models to concert classical and
flamenco guitars which are made individually by hand by a luthier. The hand made guitar's
by Javier Cayuela Garcia are distinguished by a high degree of
ornamentation. |
