2002 Santos Bayón Ruiz, Santos Hernandez Model,
Concert Classsical. This model is a faithful copy of a Santos Hernandez, built in Santo's own
forms. The rosette, with its mother-of-pearl inlays, is also one that Santos
employed in some of his guitars. I have a number of original Santos
Hernandez guitars in my collection, and Bayon's Santos Hernandez model
compares well with them. It is a superb instrument that whose tone is
instantly recognized as that of Santos Hernandez. The trebles are
concentrated, intense, and possess a crystalline clarity. The mid-range is
likewise vibrant and full bodied. The basses are firm, resonant, and crisp.
The guitar has concert volume, great presence and projects even when played
softly.

2004 Juan Alvarez, Concert Classical Guitar, Model C1.
This guitar was made by Juan
M. Alvarez in 2004. The label is signed
and dated, and numbered 1742. This is a concert classical guitar with a
true Madrid school flavor--beautifully balanced, excellent separation, power
and sustain in every register, sweet rounded clear trebles, and nice firm
bases. This guitar reminds me of the Ramirez concert guitars from the 1960s,
without their high set up. The action is very comfortable, and a player's
dream.

2004, Angel Benito Aguado, 1a Concert Classical
Guitar.
We
are proud to be
able to offer Angel's work. His guitars are are inspired by
those of Antonio Torres (1817-1892), but they are not copies. Although he has
drunk deeply from the work of Torres and Madrid school makers,
he has developed his own unique bracing system. Aside from exquisite
workmanship, his guitars are wonderfully playable, and possess a rich,
refined tone. They are true concert guitar instruments. This guitar is no
exception. It possess wonderful, deep and resonant bases that are nicely
balanced against focused, romantic trebles. This guitar sings even in the
highest registers, and is a real joy to play.

Arturo Huipe Fleta Model Concert
Guitar.
Arturo Huipe is one of
the best luthiers in Mexico. He is among those makers (from whom I
would buy in Paracho) because uses prime woods and materials, and
takes great care with control of humidity. In fact, to make sure
his guitars are stable, he lets them season 6 to 7 years before
finally finishing them. Both in workmanship and tone, his
guitar compare favorably to many guitars that would sell for
hundreds of dollars more. The guitar has the volume one expects
from a concert instrument--it is responsive, well-balanced between
bases and trebles, has excellent clarity, and a very wet, rich,
colorful tone. The recording below is of the last Huipe Fleta
model we sold, those on order are being made of yet better grade

1890 Salvador Ramirez Classical Guitar.
Salvador Ramirez (no
relation to the Ramirez dynasty of Madrid) was a luthier from Malaga, Spain,
where he studied with Antonio Lorca, Malaga's foremost maker of the epoch.
He migrated to Argentina as a young man, and set up shop on the Calle
Rivadavia 436, where this guitar was made. He was a highly esteemed maker in
his day, and is remembered as being the teacher of Francisco Nuñez, the
founder of the famous Casa Nuñez. Showing Lorca's influence, this guitar is
highly domed, like a tablao guitar, braced with 13 fan braces, and elaborate
rosette and edge decorations. There is one crack on the top (see
photo) that could be easily fixed by a luthier. Everything appears to be
original. The finish and wear are very normal for a 114 year old guitar. The
guitar is very playable, and has enough saddle to adjust the action should
ever want to do so.

1976 Lorenzo Pimentel Grand Concert Model.
This lovely guitar
was made by Lorenzo Pimentel in 1976, and is his grand
concert model. The label is signed, as is the back of the headstock. Lorenzo
started building in 1951, this guitar was made to celebrate both his 25th
year as a guitar maker, and is his 1200th guitar. The back and sides
are made with figured rosewood, giving this guitar a very exotic look. The
soundboard is the highest quality German spruce, beautiful even
grain. Ebony fingerboard & headstock overlay. Good quality tuners.
The fingerboard width at the nut is 52 mm. The neck is straight as an
arrow, and the scale length is 650 mm. Action is very comfortable. The are
no cracks or repairs, but the finish shows normal wear and some checking of
the lacquer. His guitars today in figured rosewood start at $8,000 and go

1994 Daniel Friederich
Daniel Friederich (b.1932) is widely regarded as
among the greatest living makers in the world. Many concert artists such
as Julian Bream, Scott Tennant, David Tanenbaum among many others have
played his guitars. His guitars are sought after by both players and
collectors, so his waiting list is nearly 10 years long. His guitars have
the volume needed to fill a concert hall, and possess a great musicality,
a lovely, complex tone, full of color that projects well. The guitar is
totally original, there is some wear to French polish, particularly near
the rosette. According to Friederich this wear is superficial and can be
French polished out. This is guitar no. 725 in Friederich's obra, and the
seller has a certificate of authentication written and signed by the
maker. The
one catch on this instrument is that the seller is in France and is afraid
to ship it, and so the buyer must arrange to pick it up.

| Please note because we sell
worldwide the prices we quote under each maker are prior to export and do
