Candidate's qualities called into question

Bee sidesteps tough questions
Re: the July 12 column "Bush will raise funds for Bee at Foothills manse."
Bee was asked if he approved of Bush's performance in office. Bee replied, "The president is here to support my record. We're not having the event to support him and his." Bush is the leader of Bee's party. It's likely that they agree on most issues and policies.
Bee seems incapable of giving straight answers lately. His comment about Bush is similar to his behavior when the gay-marriage amendment came up in the Legislature. He casts the deciding vote to put it on the ballot, but won't tell us whether or not he personally supports the measure.

Politician shows ethical weakness
Re: the July 12 column "Bush will raise funds for Bee at Foothills manse."
I am dismayed at the ethical weakness of Tim Bee as he prepares for a fund-raiser featuring President Bush.
When asked if he supports the president's job performance, Bee "skirted" the question. If Bee does support the president's performance, he is unwilling to publicly stand behind the platform of an unpopular president. If he doesn't support Bush's performance, then the fund-raising opportunity is more important than staying true to his own values and viewpoints.
Either way, it sounds like the old guard to me and I wouldn't want Bee to represent me in Washington at this very critical time.

False advertising
In his recent TV advertisement, Tim Bee says that our country needs courageous and honest people in Washington. Is he implying that our current congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords, is not courageous and honest?
Giffords has been both courageous and honest, and I for one, don't want to see her replaced by someone who is supported by Karl Rove and President Bush. Four more years of this administration's policies will destroy our country even more and will put us further into the poor house.

State senator doesn't listen
Re: the July 5 column "It's gotta hurt: Kolbe no longer helping Bee."
Jim Kolbe will have to get in line behind the rest of the residents in Tim Bee's district who have been disappointed in his leadership and voting record.
I and scores of residents in Bee's district phoned and e-mailed his office in mass to get him to put the horse-tripping bill on the agenda for a vote. It sailed through the House with hardly any opposition but stalled in the Senate with our own senator, Bee.
Residents of his own district were so shocked and dismayed at his callous disregard for our simple and unopposed bill to make life more humane for our horses and pets that an e-mail/telephone campaign was initiated demanding an explanation from him. Predictably, none was given.
Bee has clearly shown he not only disregards his own constituents but betrays even those who worked to raise money for him.
District 8 residents will remember Bee's betrayal when they cast their votes for Congress.
