City High, Voices form PartnerShip
City High School and Voices: Community Stories Past and Present Inc. have joined forces as "PartnerShip 48," a strategic collaboration offering educational, artistic, social, civic and recreational opportunities for Tucson's youth and the broader community.
Renovation of 6,200 square feet in the building's lower level, in the historic Cele Peterson store at 48 E. Pennington St., is complete.
The renovation of the basement level, previously unusable for youth programs, features three new classrooms with integrated technology, a newsroom, a multimedia lab, a library classroom, a student lounge and staff offices.
Voices serves low-income youth with its award-winning programs, such as the 110o after-school magazine program, "but also turns away an ever-increasing number of low-income youth due to lack of capacity," said Carrie Brennan, City High School principal. The school "continues to grow and needs more instructional and multiuse spaces."
