Volunteers offer free tax assistance
AARP, an organization advocating the interests of retirees, will offer free income tax preparation to low- and middle-income people from Feb. 1 through April 15. The volunteer tax preparers are trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service.
The sites, times and days are:
● Armory Park Senior Center, 220 S. Fifth Ave., 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
● Columbus Library, 4350 E. 22nd St., 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays.
● Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 9252 E. 22nd St., 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays.
● Mission Library, 3770 S. Mission Road, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
● Udall Recreation Center, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
● Murphy-Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road, noon to 4 p.m. Mondays; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays; and 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

Those receiving tax help should bring all relevant 2006 tax documents, the 2005 tax return, Social Security numbers for all people listed on the return, and bank routing and account numbers for direct deposits.
Central
City High School plans open houses
Students and parents are invited to two open-house events at City High School. They will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. next Wednesday, and from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 18. The school is at 48 E. Pennington St. Those attending will meet teachers, tour the school, talk with current students and parents, and learn about the school's program.
City High is a charter school serving grades nine through 12.
"The academic program includes challenging core classes, excellent arts electives, state-of-the-art technology and learning connected to real-world issues," Principal Carrie Brennan said.

Neighbor meeting
The West University Neighborhood Association will hold its annual meeting at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Postal History Museum, 920 N. First Ave.
It will begin with a potluck dinner. Members will vote on new officers, and committee chairpeople will be appointed.
Aviation extension public meeting set
Members of the Barrio Anita, El Presidio and Dunbar Spring neighborhood associations will hold a joint meeting on plans for the Barraza-Aviation Parkway road-extension project through Downtown from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dunbar Auditorium, 325 W. Second St.
Neighbors can voice concerns and ideas on the road-alignment plans. Members of the Downtown Links Citizen Advisory Committee and the city of Tucson Transportation Department staff will provide information.
