Rockies nip Giants with four in 9th

DENVER - Jeromy Burnitz and Preston Wilson each homered off Matt Herges, and Aaron Miles capped Colorado's four-run ninth inning with an RBI single, helping the Rockies rally for a 10-9 victory Sunday over the San Francisco Giants.
San Francisco led 9-6 heading into the bottom of the ninth after Deivi Cruz's tiebreaking homer in the eighth and solo shots from Michael Tucker and Barry Bonds in the ninth.
Herges quickly gave up a single to Vinny Castilla and Burnitz's homer that made it 9-8.
Wilson tied it five pitches later with a homer. Matt Holliday followed with a single to chase Herges, then was sacrificed to second. Miles hit a one-out single off Scott Eyre over Bonds' head in left that scored Holliday.
Astros 5, Padres 3: In Houston, Roger Clemens won his first game in three weeks and gave Phil Garner his first win as Houston's manager.
Clemens earned his 321st win, 14th highest on the all-time list.
● Cardinals 10, Reds 4: In Cincinnati, Mike Matheny drove in three runs, and Jeff Suppan won his third straight start.
Edgar Renteria and Reggie Sanders hit solo homers for the Cardinals.
Mets 6, Phillies 1: In New York, Al Leiter pitched six shutout innings, and Mike Cameron and Vance Wilson hit back-to-back homers in the fifth.
● Pirates 4, Marlins 2: In Pittsburgh, pinch hitter Bobby Hill hit a go-ahead homer leading off the eighth, and Pittsburgh won its 10th in a row at home. Hill sent the first pitch of the inning from reliever Billy Koch (0-2) over the right field stands for his second homer, both as a pinch hitter.
● Brewers 4, Cubs 2: In Chicago, Chris Capuano pitched six strong innings, Scott Podsednik had three hits and Danny Kolb pitched a perfect ninth for his 28th save in 29 chances.
Braves 16, Expos 5: In Atlanta, Eli Marrero hit a grand slam in the first inning, and Atlanta tied the Phillies for first place in the NL East.
