A man who was injured in a crash, and was then seen walking down the side of a far Northeast Side road wrapped in a blanket, died Saturday evening, authorities said.

The man sustained injuries in an all-terrain-vehicle accident and was seen by another person walking down Redington Road wearing the blanket, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.

The witness called 911 just after 5:30 p.m. but, by the time deputies arrived on the scene near Redington Pass, the man was dead, Barkman said.

The single-vehicle accident took place near milepost 12 on Redington Road, she said.

The case is still under investigation, and the man's identity hadn't been released Saturday.
