Clubs take kids on shopping trip
The Kiwanis de Amigos Club provided 24 children from Los Ranchitos Elementary School with the opportunity get holiday presents for their families at Wal-Mart on Dec. 13.
Club members and family members, as well as students from the University and Sabino high school Key Clubs, escorted the students around the store as they shopped. Afterward, everyone returned to Los Ranchitos, near East Valencia Road and South Tucson Boulevard, where all the gifts were wrapped. As a final surprise, each student was presented with a gift for himself or herself.
This was the 16th year that Kiwanis de Amigos Club has provided this opportunity to schoolchildren.

Bus shelters warn of drunken driving
Have you seen the festive, colored displays at bus shelters around town that talk about drunken driving?
Local attorney Elliot Glicksman and AdVision Outdoor Advertising have teamed up to discourage drunken driving. The posters will be displayed during the holidays and into the new year.
"To bring awareness to the community, especially around the holiday season, is critical," said Kelly Larkin, executive director of the Southern Arizona Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. "If this campaign helps save just one life, it has done its job."
