The Southern Arizona DUI Task Force made 60 arrests for drunken driving during its first weekend of increased enforcement, which will last through the holiday season.
The task force, which includes all local law-enforcement agencies, made 51 misdemeanor arrests and nine felony arrests during three all-night deployments before and after Thanksgiving. Of those arrested, six had previous arrests for drunken driving and five were younger than 21.
The task force will continue to deploy "saturation" patrols and sobriety checkpoints every weekend until New Year's.
