Once described as the most dangerous man in America, Timothy Leary loved tweaking the nose of authority. He was the guy who, in the 1960s, urged baby boomers to "turn on, tune in and drop out" and encouraged the use of mind-altering drugs such as LSD. But, when the self-styled prophet of LSD appeared at the UA on Nov. 2, 1983, Leary stated that people should be trained and licensed before taking LSD. He said drugs could be a tool to expand intelligence, but they also could make people stupid and unemployable. In 1967, Leary was interested in setting up a psychedelic-drug colony in the Chiricahua Mountains. Read about his plans in Tales from the Morgue at go.azstarnet.com/morguetales
