As the mirror ball spun from the ceiling and the radio blasted Latin, funk, samba and hip-hop, about 15 people followed Kimber Innecken as she led the class in a Jammin'4Joy workout.
Innecken is a fitness instructor at ProFitness Arizona, 7223 E. Golf Links Road, the site of the Jammin'4Joy event on August 8.
Jammin'4Joy was created by Paula Roberts as part of a class project for the Landmark Education leadership program. Roberts wanted people to participate in an event where they can have fun, have the opportunity for self-expression and celebrate life in general while raising money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson.
All proceeds from the event go toward Youth IMPACT — Introductory Mentoring Program for the Advancement of Careers Technology at the Boys and Girls Clubs.
IMPACT is a one-year program in which boys take part in workshops on architecture, technology and astronomy and math and science games.
Shirley Hockett came to the event to show her support. She said this was an "excellent way to get your exercise and give back."
