One man died and a woman is in a hospital with life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle accident in Arivaca Saturday, authorities said.

The man lost control of the motorcycle, drove off the road and the two were thrown, said Dawn Hanke, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.

The man died at the scene, and the woman was flown to the hospital. Hanke said they were not wearing helmets, but helmets were found on the motorcycle.

The accident occurred on Arivaca Road near Milepost 9. Arivaca is about 50 miles southwest of Tucson.
