Engineers working on the Phoenix Mars Mission will discuss the upcoming landing over appetizers on Monday as part of an informal event designed to connect the public with scientists.
The University of Arizona's father-and-son engineering team of Patrick and Rigel Woida will provide a primer on the mission as well as participate in a public discussion at Enoteca Pizzeria Wine Bar, 58 W. Congress St.
The lander is scheduled to touch down on Mars on May 25 and analyze soil and ice in the planet's northern polar region.
The talk is part of the UA Flandrau Science Center's ongoing science cafes, which are informal monthly gatherings where university scientists interact with the public.
Admission is free, and appetizers will be served. Beverages will be available for purchase.
