Vail/Corona de Tucson
T-shirt sales will benefit Cienega parents group
People can help Cienega High School's parent organization and show off their Vail pride by donning desert-themed Vail T-shirts, available for purchase at two locations.
The white, 100 percent cotton, tagless Hanes T-shirts have the words "Arizona" and "Vail" on them. Two Vail retailers — The Vail Connection, at 13105 E. Colossal Cave Road (between the railroad tracks), and Be & Q Nail Salon, 13190 E. Colossal Cave Road (behind the Dairy Queen) — are selling them, a news release said.
The shirts cost $10 each for sizes youth to adult extra-large.
Proceeds will benefit the parent organization at Cienega High School, 12775 E. Mary Ann Cleveland Way.
Festival will celebrate Vail community history
The Vail community will celebrate its history with a short parade, a silent action, live music, historical demonstrations and hands-on activities at a free festival on Saturday.
The festival — a Vail Preservation Society local history celebration called Between the Tracks in Vail, AZ — will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Vail Connection, 13105 E. Colossal Cave Road.
For more information on Between the Tracks, call J.J. Lamb at 419-4428.
The parade will start at 10 a.m. and is expected to last about 15 minutes, so people should arrive early, Lamb said.
A recreational run — Tagg Running Events' Run Through History — is not part of the free activities and will take place before the main celebration. It will start at 8:30 a.m. and include a four-mile run and a one-mile fun run for kids.
Those interested in participating can register online at www.taggrun.com or at the event on the day of the run.
