Tucson police are searching for an armed robber who burst into a Midtown credit union Thursday morning and ordered people to the ground before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash, an official said.
A teller at the Arizona Federal Credit Union, 2900 E. Broadway, which is just west of Reid Park, hit the silent alarm at 9:35 a.m. after the robber entered the building, said Sgt. Fabian Pacheco, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
When police arrived, people were running out of the credit union yelling there had been a robbery, he said.
A man about 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, wearing a mask, a dark jacket and dark jeans, left the bank on foot and went south between the bank and a business west of it.
The robber was armed with a large-caliber silver handgun, Pacheco said.
No injuries had been reported in the robbery, and as of Thursday afternoon the robber was still on the loose, Pacheco said.
