Police Chief Harris placed on leave in MaranaArizona Daily Star

Marana Assistant Police Chief Barbara Harris has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Harris, who has been with the department since November 2006, has been on leave since March 10, Town Manager Mike Reuwsaat said before Tuesday's Town Council meeting.
Reuwsaat declined to comment on specifics of the investigation, though he said it does not stem from requests by the Marana Police Officers' Association and the Arizona Conference of Police and Sheriffs to have Harris removed.
"This is another investigation," Reuwsaat said. "It's going to be wrapped up by Friday."
The Arizona Conference of Police and Sheriffs, a state-wide police union, in January released results of a survey that found Harris to blame for low morale within the Marana Police Department, and that firing her would solve that problem. The survey noted that 78 percent of respondents lacked confidence in the department's upper management.
Marana Police Officers' Association Vice President Adam Lawson then publicly called for the removal of Harris and Chief Richard Vidaurri during the March 4 Town Council meeting, noting that union members had recently given Harris and Vidaurri votes of no-confidence.
Harris declined comment when reached at home Tuesday.
Vidaurri, who normally attends council meetings, was absent because of a dental appointment, Reuwsaat said.
