DAVID SANDERS / ARIZONA DAILY STAR 1993 Opening day was still several weeks away, but on Feb. 8, 1993, Colorado Rockies' trainer Dave Cilladi was getting the locker room ready for the team's arrival. It was the first year for the expansion team and it had chosen Tucson for its spring-training site. In preparation, Hi Corbett Field had undergone a $4.3 million remodeling project which included an expanded press box,a new clubhouse and elevated bleachers. The Rockies would debut in the spruced-up park on March 6 against the San Francisco Giants. More than 7,700 fans turned out to see the Rockies win the game, 7-2.
