Former "Survivor" winner Ethan Zohn will be speaking to Jewish teen philanthropists and give a presentation on his charitable efforts Feb. 17 at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road.
Zohn's presentation, "Fighting AIDS One Kick at a Time," will be held at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Zohn, 34, was the winner of the "Survivor: Africa" edition, which aired on CBS from October 2001 to January 2002.
The former professional soccer player used some of the $1 million he earned for winning "Survivor" to co-found Grassroot Soccer, a non-profit that trains African pro soccer players to teach children about HIV/AIDS prevention.
Abigail Foss, coordinator of the B'nai Tzedek Tucson Jewish teen philanthropy program, said Zohn was originally brought into town to speak to her group's teens during their winter retreat "because he is an example of a passionate young philanthropist."
However, Foss said she felt all Tucsonans might want to hear Zohn's message, so she asked Zohn to hold a separate presentation that would be open to the public.
"There was a lot of interest in hearing him speak," Foss said, noting that all proceeds from the "Fighting AIDS One Kick at a Time" presentation will go toward Grassroot Soccer.
